Welcome to Capel Bach cottage, Waunfawr, an idyllic C18th Chapel to rent with exceptional views of the Snowdonia mountains in North Wales

Capel Bach is a character holiday cottage in Waunfawr, adjoining the Snowdonia National Park and near to Caernarfon.

Its exceptional location means you can enjoy the sea and and the beautiful mountainous scenery of North Wales.
The area offers opportunities for walking, climbing the highest mountain in Eryri or Snowdon, rock climbing, sailing, scuba diving, Surf Snowdonia, the amazing world famous Zip Wire experience, cycling, fishing, horse riding or exploring the areas' many castles, historical and archaeological sites.
From Waunfawr one of the paths up Snowdon is a 12 minute drive away which is the Snowdon Ranger route.
Waunfawr is also a 5k walk via some old slate quarries of Cefn Du to Llanberis with beautiful views en route of Llyn Padarn and the mountains of Snowdonia.Velocity Zip Line at Penrhyn Quarry is a 28 minute drive away from the cottage. The World Velocity 2 Zip Line is the world's fastest and travels at speeds up to 100 mph+  For bookings www.zipworld.co.uk
The nearest beach at Dinas Dinlle is a 15 minute drive away.
It is a safe sandy beach and has has views over Caernarfon Bay, Anglesey and Yr Eifl/The Rivals which is a group of hills on the coast of the Llyn Peninsula.
The Llyn Peninsula has numerous beautiful beaches Aberdaron, Pwllheli, Barmouth, Nefyn, Harlech, Criccieth,Porthdinllaen Beach-one of my favourites-Traeth Porthor (Whistling Sands as its also called), Llanbedrog Beach and many more. Most of these beaches are also dog friendly. Check out www.thebeachguide.co.uk
Harlech, Cricceth and Caernarfon have castles too which must be visited! Caernarfon Castle is recognised around the world as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages. This fortress -palace on the banks of the River Seiont is grouped with Edward 1's other castles at Conwy, Beaumaris and Harlech as a World Heritage Site.
A visit to North Wales must include a visit to Ynys Mon/Anglesey. To travel to Anglesey you will go over a choice of two bridges, Britannia Bridge built by Robert Stephenson in 1846 and the Menai suspension Bridge designed by Thomas Telford in 1818. Anglesey has many beautiful beaches from Red Wharf Bay, Benllech, Rhosneigr, Cemaes, Aberffraw, Church Bay, Trearddur Bay etc.

My firm favourite is Newborough Beach and the magical Llanddwyn Island on the west of the island.
Newborough forest is a great place for children and dogs to walk through to get to the sand dunes and the long sandy beach and to walk to the the Two Mawr Lighthouse and the ruins of Santes Dwynwen Church.
A visit to South Stack Lighthouse is also a must. South Staff Cliffs on Holy Island in Anglesey is a wonderful nature reserve run by the RSPB. Up to 9000 seabirds frequent South Stack cliffs including puffins, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwake and fulmars so a heaven for Bird Watchers! Penmon Point Lighthouse outside Beaumaris is also worth visiting.
There are numerous pubs and cafes and restaurants in Snowdonia and Anglesey.
There are many eating places in Caernarfon a 15 minute drive away from the cottage from tapas, Italian, to Welsh traditional pub food A restaurant in Caernarfon, Sheeps and Leeks offers fine dining and is in the Michelin Guide. Sosban in Menai Bridge also offers fine dining.
