Snowdon Mountain Railway

The Train Service up Snowdon reopens on Saturday 22nd May 2021- weather conditions and government restrictions permitting- until Sunday 31st October every 30 minutes from 9.0 am subject to passenger demand.

Unfortunately the Heritage Steam Service has been withdrawn for the 2021 season.

2021 destination is Clogwyn Station 3/4 distance up Snowdon. Trains depart from Llanberis Station and begin their climb 1058 metres up Snowdon or Yr Wyddfa in Welsh a journey experienced by some 12 million travellers since 1896.

These ancient Snowdonia mountains thrust upwards by volcanic forces 450 million years ago, once grew to heights of 10,000 metres over eons the wind and rain and successive ice ages have sculpted them to their current form with Snowdon being the highest summit in England and Wales.

Return fare cost from Llanberis to Clogwyn - Adult 16 plus £32

Walking up and down Snowdon takes on average 6-8 hours. The Llanberis path is the most popular route and advised for a first timer up Snowdon.

It is possible to catch the train up Snowdon and then walk down for possibly the less fit!

The views from the summit of Snowdon are stunning on a clear day. The views from Snowdon are memorable at sunrise and sunset.
